Carver Conservation Commission OKs $3,030 Mulch Purchase and Eco-Tour Signs

CARVER — March 18, 2026 — Carver Conservation Commission authorizes $3,030 for playground mulch and accepts donated eco-tour signs at its March 18 meeting. The five-member commission voted unanimously to draw $3,030 from the Conservation Maintenance Fund to purchase 62 cubic yards of mulch from Bridgewater Farm Supply for the Buckman Park playground, ending a years-long delay on a project that had previously been approved in principle twice. In a second unanimous vote, the commission accepted an offer from Bill Rickstrom of the Friends of Miles Standish State Forest to install 11 grant-funded educational signs on commission-owned conservation land known as the coal property; members agreed the signs — which include QR codes, Latin species names, and seventh-grade-level text — can be modified to add town logos and clarify the QR code destination before fabrication. The commission also continued a pre-application discussion for 19 Rochester Road Lot 1, where members told applicants Jacob and Lisa Braley that their revised plan for a rear lot with an accessory dwelling unit was "pretty invasive" to the 65-foot no-touch buffer and may need to return to the original approved design.
