Carver Commission Backs Town Option on 13-Acre Cranberry Road Parcel

CARVER — November 5, 2025 — Carver Conservation Commission recommends town exercise first-refusal option on 13-acre cranberry bog parcel. Vice Chair Dave Hall presided at the November 5 meeting in the absence of Chair Savory Moore, leading the three-member commission to a 3-0 vote recommending the town exercise its Chapter 61A right of first refusal on a parcel at 0 Cranberry Road, a 13-acre property described as cranberry bogs with upland pine forest. Hall called it "the type of property that would make great conservation and recreation property to have for the town," though commissioners acknowledged the commission's acquisition fund likely cannot cover the purchase and no town meeting falls within the 120-day refusal window. The commission also opened and continued 3-0 to December 3 a new Notice of Intent hearing for a 4.98-megawatt solar array proposed by Wareham Street Solar 2 LLC on a 430-acre site, pushing back on the loss of globally rare pine barrens habitat and flagging an unresolved question over whether an eastern water body on the project site qualifies for 200-foot riverfront area protection under state law.
