Carver RDA Votes to Seek Zoning Change Allowing Earth Removal in Green Business Park
CARVER — August 12, 2025 — Carver Redevelopment Authority votes to pursue zoning change that would allow earth removal in the Green Business Park. The board voted unanimously at its August 12 meeting to ask the Select Board to add a warrant article to the October 7 special town meeting that would amend Carver Zoning Bylaw section 2902-2.3, changing the earth removal designation in the Green Business Park use chart from not permitted to permitted. Town Planner Tom Bott outlined three legal paths to get the article on the warrant — Select Board sponsorship, a 100-registered-voter citizen petition, or submission by the affected landowner — and recommended the board pursue at least two simultaneously. The board also voted unanimously to launch a signature drive, with members planning to collect names at Shaw's, the Center Carver post office, and local churches before the warrant closes August 18 at 4 p.m. The July treasurer's report showed the RDA savings account at $48,463.66 and the checking account at just $263.02. The board's reorganization vote was postponed to the September 9 meeting due to the absence of member Jim Elliman.
