Carver Earth Removal Committee Sets Spring Site Visits, Pursues Closure Non-Compliance
Other Committee · Meeting of March 10, 2026
Carver Earth Removal Committee presses two permit holders for long-overdue closure documentation. At the March 10 meeting, the five-member committee — still two seats short of its full seven-member roster — voted unanimously to direct staff to send letters compelling Johnson Cranberries, holder of permits 58 and 92, to appear at the April 7 meeting with closure reports or a signed engineer's schedule; the chair noted Johnson had promised the documents by June 2025 and suggested per-day fines of up to $100 may apply, potentially totaling a year's worth. Town Counsel Amy Questell urged the board to first confirm the closure requirements against the actual permit conditions before assessing penalties.
The board also set four site visits for Saturday, April 4, starting at 8 a.m. at 46 Federal Road, and continued without action a public hearing for Adger Realty at Zero Mayflower Road after no representative appeared.
