Select Board · Meeting of October 6, 2026
Carver Select Board confronted a $1.3 million gap in next year's health insurance budget and swore in a new fire chief. Town Administrator Glenn Cannon said the shortfall followed the town's exit from the dissolved Gateway Health Group, with member John Cotter countering "I don't agree with what the town administrator stated, that we didn't know this was coming." Eric Germain was sworn in as fire chief, with Jesse Boyle pinned deputy chief and William Froehlich assistant deputy chief. The board approved $80,000 in opioid settlement fund purchases, including a $55,000 UTV and trailer and $25,000 in ultrasound equipment, and heard from Town Planner Sean Lewis that a proposed 40R zoning district could allow up to 302 housing units, triggering a $350,000 state incentive payment.
The election warrant passed 4-0 with one recusal.
