Carver CPC Unanimously Approves $411,450 in FY27 Community Preservation Requests

CARVER — December 18, 2025 — Carver's Community Preservation Committee unanimously recommended $411,450 across four FY27 projects at its December 18 public meeting. Chair Bob Bentley guided the committee through the four items: a $328,500 football field bond payment now in year six of ten; a $30,450 administrative reserve matching last year's request; a not-to-exceed $2,500 historic preservation project proposed by resident Stan Miller to fly Betsy Ross flags at homes predating the Declaration of Independence; and a $50,000 construction appropriation for the Carver Conservation Commission to build a picnic pavilion, split rail fence, and wildlife observation deck on conservation land, with materials funding already held from a prior town meeting. Bentley noted the conservation project had stalled after planned in-kind labor never materialized and the town's conservation officer recently departed. The committee also authorized Bentley to finalize draft warrant article language once Director of Finance Karen Preval supplies outstanding reserve-fund figures ahead of a January 21, 2026 submission deadline. Bentley separately announced Carver's CPA state match came in at 29.8 percent, nearly double the 16.9 percent statewide average.
