Carver School Committee Approves Half-Day for Old Colony Building Vote

CARVER — September 29, 2025 — Carver School Committee approves half-day for November Old Colony regional school vote. The committee voted unanimously at its September 29 meeting to change November 18 to a half-day district-wide, aligning with a noon-to-8 p.m. public vote on the Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School building project scheduled at Carver Middle High School. Superintendent Scott Neff said the change keeps the district within state-required instructional hour minimums. The committee also voted unanimously to approve FY26 warrants and to establish two new student activity accounts — Girls Tennis and Caring Crusaders — each opening at zero. Neff presented three superintendent goals for 2025-2026, including a student learning goal centered on the "four shifts" deeper learning framework developed by Scott McLeod of the University of Colorado Denver. Athletic Director Kelsey presented a roughly $20,000 athletic banner redesign project — funded through a multi-year revolving athletics account — for committee vote at the October 20 meeting. Nine policies, including a new vocational pathway exploration policy required by DESE by November 1, received first readings with votes also set for October 20.
