Carver Council on Aging Board Elects Maroney Chair, Eyes 2026 Grant Funding

CARVER — October 23, 2025 — Carver Council on Aging reorganizes board and hears director's report on expanding senior services. The Board of Directors unanimously elected Helen Maroney as chair, Elaine Raymond as vice chair, and Mary DeRoss as secretary at its October 23 meeting in Town Hall. COA Director Connie Kelly reported an estimated 816 GATRA transportation trips and approximately 900 home-delivered meals for October, with 108 unique seniors participating in activities this month. Kelly announced she received her director certification at the Massachusetts Councils on Aging statewide conference and said she plans to pursue annual Service Incentive Grants of $12,000 to $25,000 through the state Executive Office of Aging and Independence. She also submitted five grant applications to the Carver Cultural Council, with decisions expected in January 2026 that could fund up to six new programs. The board voted to move its November meeting to the 20th and cancel December, and discussed plans to expand outreach visits to senior housing communities including South Meadow Village and Meadow Woods.
