Carver Planning Board Continues King Richard's Fair Site Review to July 1

CARVER — June 24, 2025 — Carver Planning Board continues King Richard's Fair site review, eyes conditional approval for 2025 season. The board voted unanimously to extend its public hearing on the fair's application to construct 40 wooden structures at the former Edaville Railroad site in the tourist commercial zoning district, setting a July 1 continuation at Carver Town Hall. Consulting engineer Andy Glines of Fuss and O'Neill outlined several outstanding requirements, including soil test pits to 24 to 36 inches in depth at a proposed grass-field parking area, updated plan sheets showing existing well and septic locations, and a performance bond tied to any conditional approval. Ryan Roy, vice president of production for King Richard's Fair and Edaville, confirmed the fair has retained a parking and traffic expert to conduct a study during the 2025 operating season and said the fair would contact Middleborough officials about reinforcing Route 58 and Rochester Road as the primary approach route. Four residents spoke during public comment, raising concerns about turnaround traffic on Pine Street, wear on recently repaved Middleborough connector roads, and GPS routing that directed drivers through Purchase Street rather than the main road. The July 1 joint meeting with the Select Board, originally scheduled for MBTA Communities zoning, is expected to be expanded to include the King Richard's Fair and Edaville matter.
