Carver Library Hosts Talk Like a Pirate Day Drop-in for Families
CARVER — Carver Public Library kicked off the weekend with a Talk Like a Pirate Day drop-in on Saturday, drawing families into the Children's Room for a two-hour session of pirate lingo and treasure hunting, the lone dated newsworthy item to surface from town sources over the past day.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Meadowbrook Way branch opened its Children's Room from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday for the all-ages, drop-in Talk Like a Pirate Day event, inviting visitors to trade a "salty word" for pirate loot as part of the library's ongoing children's programming.
The pirate-day drop-in capped a week in which the library's meeting rooms stayed in near-constant use, hosting recurring groups including the Cranberry Country Camera Club, the Carver Public Library Book Club, quilting and rug-hooking circles, and a Friday homeschool meetup, part of the steady lineup of adult and children's activities the branch runs each week.
COMING UP
The library will be closed Sunday, September 20. It reopens for a busy week ahead: the Carver Democrats meet Monday, September 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Small Meeting Room, and volunteer Sarah Hewins returns Tuesday, September 22, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. in the Children's Room for Sarah's Story, a story-and-craft session for young patrons. Tuesday afternoon also brings the library's regular Mahjong drop-in from 1 to 4 p.m.
