Select Board Reviews New Policy on Field and Facility Use
Carver's Select Board reviewed a first-ever written policy for community use of town and school fields and facilities, presented Oct. 20 by the Recreation Committee.
CARVER --
TOWN -- The Select Board held an Oct. 20 discussion on a new policy for community use of field and school facilities, with Recreation Coordinator Emily Slavin, Recreation Committee Chair Mary Rust and Vice Chair Carl Miller presenting a draft developed with the school department. The policy, the first written version in years according to officials, sets a priority order for booking Carver facilities: town meeting and elections rank first, school-sponsored sports and activities second, and recreation programs third, followed by Carver-based nonprofits and youth sports, Carver-based for-profit groups, and then non-Carver nonprofit and for-profit organizations. The draft also addresses advance booking windows, a requirement that renters carry their own liability insurance, possible police presence at public gatherings, and a rule that cancellations be reported to the facilities manager within seven days using the Operation HERO booking system. The Select Board did not vote on the policy, asking the Recreation Committee to finalize additional details before a future vote.
YOUTH LEAGUES -- The Carver Cranberry Baseball League, also known as Bog Town Little League, has Tball and Rookie division games scheduled for Oct. 31 at Carver Fields, with Tball Blue facing Maroon at 9 a.m. and Rookie Blue facing Maroon at 10:30 a.m.
